Free Gift Cards

This is NOT a scam!

My friends have been telling me about all the great things they have been buying with Swag Bucks. I thought it sounded like a great idea, but never did anything until my friend Jackie explained the process on her blog.

You basically download their search bar (powered by Google) and then get Swag Bucks just for searching (like I got 10 Swag Bucks for when I searched for "Sesame Street"). You can redeem your Swag Bucks for all kinds of great gift cards (Amazon being my personal favorite). Friends of mine have used Swag Bucks to fund their entire Christmas. It seems like a great idea. If you want to try it (it is absolutely FREE) go here:

http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/marcnkatie

And yes, we will get Swag Bucks for referring you and you will get them when you refer your friends. So give it a try!

Need a Unique Gift?

If you're ever trying to find the perfect gift that is unique and personable, may I suggest Ekko Mobiles: We have one in the nursery and I absolutely love it!

Understanding The Health Care Bill

These articles were quite helpful for me to begin to try and grasp what all of this health care reform is all about. They were also very easy reads and tried to stay neutral. I thought others might enjoy feeling more empowered with this knowledge as well:

What to do for a cold?

We are struggling with a cold that has managed to make everyone in our family sick except for me. Needless to say, I always seem to forget all the things to do when my baby has a cold. With all this fresh in my mind, I thought I'd right it down:

Signs that you need to see a Doctor:
1) Dehydration (dry diapers, no tears when they cry)
2) Fever of 101.5 or higher that doesn't come down with Tylenol
3) Rattle sound in the lungs
4) Whistle/wheezing when they breathe
5) Coughing so hard it makes them throw up
6) Signs of ear infections (tugging at ears, waking up with a piercing "I'm hurt" cry)

What you can do for them:
1) Tylenol as directed
2) Saline drops in the nose
3) Essential oils/Vicks rubbed on their chest and feet
4) Plenty of liquids
5) Humidifier
6) PRAY

What else have I forgotten? I'm on night 6 of very little sleep. Please feel free to add.

Essential Oils

http://www.vanillajoy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/dr-mom-oils-267x300.jpghttp://www.vanillajoy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/dr-mom-oils-267x300.jpg

I have recently been introduced to essential oils and I am a believer! Let me tell you the ones I find to be most helpful:

Peppermint: for headaches

Breathe: which is a combination of:
  • eucalyptus oil
  • lavender oil
  • peppermint oil
  • ravensara oil
  • rosemary oil
  • tea tree oil
  • thyme oil
Breathe aids in congestion. I like to rub it on my baby's chest and the bottom of their feet.

And I am currently using Deep Blue to help with lower back pain.

I think these are all heaven sent. Essential oils can often be found at your local health food store.

Marriage Advice

From now on when I go to bridal showers and they ask for advice for the bride, I am going to give this:

"Whoever is in charge of doing the laundry, make sure they have at least one less pair of underwear than the person who isn't in charge."
